Choosing a Non-Toxic Engineered Wood Floor
Engineered wood floors are less expensive than solid hardwood floors, so they're a great choice if you're on a budget. However, it's important to be aware of the differences between your options. Engineered eucalyptus flooring is the most common type of non-solid flooring, and it's made up of multiple layers. The top layer of an engineered wood floor is usually a hardwood like maple, with a layer of low-density fiberboard (LDF) or particle board underneath that provides support for the board above. A subfloor can also be added to provide extra support for the top layer. While this type of flooring is strong, durable and long lasting, it does have some limitations. One main issue is that it isn't very resistant to moisture and water damage caused by leaks and spills. It's also not good for areas with high humidity or moisture levels, because it will expand and contract when exposed to changes in temperature and humidity levels. Most eucalyptus hardwood floors
